Marcelo is the 4th generation of a Brazilian family of entrepreneurial shoemakers that emigrated from Germany to Brazil.
At the age of 20, he made the bold decision of moving to China to head the operations of a consulting company specialized in Footwear manufacturing.
In 2011, he joined Li & Fung, where he now runs the footwear vertical, overseeing and providing strategic leadership to a team of over 300 people, globally sourcing over 1B USD of footwear, manufactured in over 10 countries and sold in over 50 countries.
With over twenty years of progressive experience in product development, production, operations, innovation and customer relations, Marcelo is a leader and strategic thinker with exceptional analytical and communication skills. He thrives in working closely with cross-functional teams interfacing with all levels of the industry.
Marcelo holds a degree in Business Admin from Anhembi Morumbi University (in Sao Paulo, Brazil), an extension degree in Leadership from Stanford University, and is currently coursing the Masters of Applied Science in Supply Chain Management at MIT.
